Cannes

Cannes

Cannes is a cornerstone of the French Riviera, best known for its annual film festival, an event that has made the town a favored vacation spot for the Hollywood elite. The waterfront boulevard of La Croisette, meets every classic ideal of the French Riviera from cultured terrace cafes to designer boutiques and palatial resorts. Modern design schemes are built to blend with grand villas that have stood for centuries. Palm Beach and a handful of other paradises populate the shoreline. The tourism picks up in May with the start of the film festival and lasts all summer long, bringing with it a thriving nightclub scene full of beach-goers, celebrities, socialites and tastemakers. But while the town is a staple of world travel, tourism does fall off after the summer ends. At the start of fall, many of Cannes’ most beloved venues close their doors until the year after. Just the same, plenty of classic clubs maintain themselves year round and events like the Carnival on the Riviera keep this charmed old town limber for the start of May.
